Sunday 3 July 2022 - Munich
Neither one of us has adjusted our sleep yet. I am writing at 3:30 AM and we have both been awake since about 1 AM despite a fairly long day with lots of walking. I have always been able to adjust fairly quickly before, but not this time. Must be old age. Still activity on the street below. The occasional rowdy makes a racket and moves on.
Our hotel is quite close to the city centre. The neighbourhood is quite heavily Middle Eastern in terms of the people, shops, and eateries.
We saw a cute little guy at breakfast this morning. Really reminded us of Justin at about age three. So self-assured and precocious. So much fun to watch.
Carla and Tyler finally arrived about 12:30 PM. They were pretty pooped and needed a bit of a rest. They were already in the airport security line at 3:45 AM (4:45 Munich time). We headed out to the Augustiner Keller outdoor beer garden between 2:30 and 3 and had four wonderful meals. From there we walked to the Marienplatz in time to catch the tail end of the famous Glockenspiel performance. From there it was on to the Hofbäuhaus. We were still pretty full from our first stop, so we only had small beers. Carla & Tyler shared a salad, we shared an apple strudel, and we all shared a small pretzel. On our way back to the hotel we stopped in at Trader Vic’s for some Tiki drinks. It was a grand celebration of getting our holiday back on track.
The day was sunny and very warm. We tried to stay in the shade as much as possible.
