Tuesday 5 July 2022 - Basel, Switzerland
We grabbed a delicious breakfast from a nearby bakery and spent most of the morning repacking our laundry.
The last message we received from Viking said our ship would be at one of three docks. Carla found a web site that tracks river cruise ships and told us which dock. Then she figured out which tram to catch and where to transfer to get there. It is amazing how much information is out there if you can figure out where to look.
We were the first to arrive at 11 AM. We grabbed a light lunch on board and went for a walk. Afterward, Carla was not feeling well, and our cabin was ready but not theirs, so she laid down in our cabin while we went on a guided tour of Basel with Tyler from about 3:30-5. Next was a welcome briefing followed by dinner at 7 and cast off at 9. It was interesting to watch our ship make a 180 degree turn in the river. We sat up top for a while before calling it a night. We are going through our first lock at about 10 PM but we are too tired to wait.
