Sunday 15 Feb 2015 Regina to Puerto Vallarta
It is our goal to gather the whole family together for a
holiday every few years. A winter holiday somewhere warm is the preference, so
we asked everyone several months ago to plan for this week when Brett is off
school. This may get tougher in the future as Justin will be in grade one next
year and his school holidays may not match with Brett’s.
My sister Cheryl and her husband Ron Sprung were also contemplating
a winter holiday on the school break with sons Nathan and Matthew. We decided
to all go together to the same place. Cousins Pat and Craig Mengel with their families
and Uncle Harold will also be there, but at a different resort. They arrived on
Friday and depart next Friday. We have tentative plans to hook up sometime from
Tuesday to Thursday.
We departed on time just before 10:30 AM and arrived a
little after 3 PM in the same time zone. The twins traveled pretty well except
that Annabelle became quite upset during takeoff, an enroute climb and the final
descent. She seemed to sense changes in noise and altitude that most people on
the plane did not. She had a short nap and Charlotte slept for almost an hour.
On arrival it took about 1.5 hours for immigration, baggage claim,
and customs and another half hour on the bus, arriving at our hotel about 5 and
checking in by 5:30. We met up with Darren and Sue and all went to the buffet.
After eating, the boys engaged Tyler in a deep discussion of the video game Plants
and Zombies which they had played on the way down. Later we all settled outside
near the beach bar and playground for a gabfest.
