Monday 4 December 2017 Disney Animal Kingdom

We awoke to a sad morning cry from Louisa - poor little thing. She has the sniffles and is teething. Her sleep cycle is all upset and she spends all day in a stroller when she would rather be walking around exploring. She is actually pretty content all day, but starts to get restless toward supper time. By bedtime she is pretty overtired. We try to get her out for a walk when we can, but it is not that easy with the crowds. The twins are in a stroller most of the day too. They get a little restless occasionally, but I can’t imagine them doing all the walking that we are. The boys are doing very well. There is enough excitement to keep them energized all day and ready to chase and wrestle on the lawn in the evening.

Today we are doing Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. Carla and Tyler left early, as usual, before the others were up. They had already ridden the most popular rides before we even got there. This is home to the new Pandora section, based on the Avatar movie, with new rides that everyone wants to experience. So it is very busy.

Celeste was not feeling well in the morning and did not get better as the day wore on, so I escorted her to the bus about 2:30 and she went back to the hotel.

The Avatar Flight of Passage ride is the highlight here. Like many other rides, you have the sensation of flying, except that instead of sitting on single structure, each person’s seat moves individually. It is quite a sensation with a few steep drops. There is also an Avatar based river ride, but the wait was 90+ minutes any time we checked, so we did not ride it.

Darren’s gang went on another river raft ride. The twins were excited to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

We all met for lunch at an Asian place in Pandora and for supper at the Flame Tree Barbecue. Brett took the twins to the bathroom and did not return for some time. Turns out the girls were street dancing to a rock n roll harpist (Strange, but true!) across the street.

We returned to the hotel fairly early and the adult kids headed out in the evening to Disney Springs, a shopping area, to do some late night Christmas shopping.

Weather today was overcast with a very few drops of rain in the early afternoon, but nice and warm and pleasant overall. The previous days were all warm and sunny.
