Thursday 7 July 2022 - Kehl/Strasbourg

 

We were supposed to dock at Strasbourg, France this morning, but apparently the port is too full, so we docked across the river in Kehl, Germany. That added a 15-minute walk to our bus and a slightly longer bus ride to our tour. We wandered through the old town and were back for lunch. 

Carla and Tyler were on a different Flavors of Alsace tasting tour from 10 to 6. They visited several locations on a walking tour sampling different traditional dishes and wine pairings at each stop. After lunch I laid down for a nap for an hour while Celeste watched a movie. She fell asleep through the middle too and we watched the end together. We then spent a couple of hours walking into and around Kehl, taking special note of the Woolworth store. We all went for supper at 7. Today was a buffet of German favourites. 

 Having all had a little bit of everything we were nearly ready to explode. By the time we finished eating we were in another lock with two tanker ships. We watched the action as we dropped about 25 feet. We were all very tired and Celeste and I were asleep by 10.

The day started cool, overcast, and breezy. Later it was mostly sunny and warmer.
