Riviera Maya Tuesday 21 Feb 2012
We had a relaxing morning
walking, at the pool, and on a terrace overlooking the beach.
Before we left home, Carla had learned that there was a Mardi Gras parade today on the island of Cozumel, which we can see from our beach. The young folk, including Justin decided to make the journey.
Around 2:30, they caught a taxi
into the nearby town of Playa del Carmen, where they explored a bit before
catching the ferry to the island. Justin fell asleep on the ferry, but Sue had
brought a child carrying back pack, so they stuffed Justin into it and carried
him around for a while. They ate in a Mexican restaurant, where Justin woke up in the middle of the meal. Apparently, he was the life of the party after that.
The parade started way behind schedule and they had to catch the ferry before
the end of the festivities, but had a great time nonetheless.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch,
Cameron went down for a nap around the time the others left. Grandma and
Grandpa conked out in sympathy. We were all awake about 4:30. We played
peek-a-boo, read some books, went for a walk, took in part of another movie,
ate supper, and went to the Circus Show, one of the live performances that they
put on every evening. Cameron was absolutely captivated by the show. He was
transfixed like a statue during each act. At the conclusion of each act he
would sign and say “More! More!”
The gang returned from Cozumel around 10 and
we all retired in preparation for our early morning tomorrow.
