Today we hooked up with the Mengels at the Aquaventuras Water Park. They have ten water slides (although they were not all operating), including some tube slides, a kids pool with kid slides, a dolphin pool and a sea lion area. There were additional charges for the latter two, which none of us chose to pay. We had a hoot on the water slides though. One of the highlights was our twins meeting Lindsay’s (cousin Craig’s daughter) three year old twins. Her girls were very sweet to ours and they had quite a good meeting.
Laura and Brett left early to put the girls down for a nap and, by the time we got back to the resort around 5 PM, the twins were already in the pool again.
We observed an interesting phenomenon in the evening. The roof of the resort and the balcony roofs are covered with semi-circular clay tiles. During the day, thousands of bats shelter under the tiles. Just after sunset a few start to emerge and fly around, then a few more and a few more and then a cloud of them emerges and flies in a stream toward the beach where they turn north or south for some unknown reason and fly off into the night.
