Saturday 9 July 2022 - Rüdesheim
Until now the countryside around the Upper Rhine was quite flat and planted with conventional crops. But for four hours out of Rüdesheim we were in the Middle Rhine Gorge. The shoreline was steep hills and cliffs. The shady side of the river was forested, while the sunny side was planted with miles and miles of wine grapes. This is the section of the Rhine that has an old castle around every bend. It was quite an interesting trip. Unfortunately, Celeste missed it. She had a bad headache with her cold and spent the whole day until supper in our cabin sleeping most of the time.
Note one of the many campgrounds along the river in the last picture.
It was quite cool and windy up on deck, warming up toward noon.
We arrived in Koblenz around noon, had lunch, and I took the included walking tour. It became quite comfortably warm in the afternoon.
At 9 PM a violinist and cellist came aboard and performed in the lounge. We decided to watch on our TV in our room. I made it almost to the end before crashing.
