We return home today. How did
this day arrive so quickly? The week has just flown by.
We had breakfast with Darren and
the boys while Sue attended yoga with Tyler. When we met up with them, we
learned that we had some sickies on our hands. Brett was up frequently
overnight to throw up. Carla was also feeling under the weather, but not to the
same extent. It is tempting to blame food, but the food has been so good, that
I find that hard to believe. Brett was feeling a little “off” already yesterday
afternoon. Maybe he got a flu bug or too much sun.
Anyway, we had to check out by
noon and our pick up was not until 5 pm, so we had to find a way to care for
our sickies. Fortunately, Darren and Sue are here for another day, so Carla and
Brett were able to sleep in their room most of the afternoon. Laura took Brett
to the resort doctor who gave him a shot to reduce his nausea and stomach
cramps and recommended an electrolyte drink for hydration.
The rest of us just hung out for
the afternoon, relaxing. By the time the bus arrived at 5, Carla and Brett were
both up and mobile, but still not feeling well. Justin looked a little sad and
bewildered when we boarded the bus. He had a crowd of playmates all week. Tyler
had a great game going with him just before the bus arrived. Suddenly we were
all leaving. What is going on?!
We were through airport security
by 6:30 and departed on time at 8:30. Before departure, the pilot offered us an
opportunity to get off, saying there was a winter storm warning in Regina. We
arrived a little early, just before 1:30 am, quickly made our way through
customs and immigration and baggage claim, caught taxis, and were home by 2 am.
While the weather at home was not real pleasant, the storm had not lived up to
its advance billing.
Our sickies soon recovered at
home, but Celeste was really bushed on Sunday and came down with flu symptoms
on Monday that kept her down most of the week.
And so ends one of the best holidays ever for us! The Vancouver gang has one more day.
